Position Overview

The Assistant Teacher at Lux Christian Academy supports the Lead Teacher in creating a structured, engaging, and Christ-centered classroom environment. This role helps facilitate daily instruction, reinforce academic concepts, and provide care and supervision to students while upholding the school’s mission of developing Christ-focused, academically strong, and artistically expressive students.

Key Responsibilities

Classroom Support

  • Assist the Lead Teacher in implementing daily lessons using the Abeka curriculum and other instructional materials

  • Help prepare classroom materials, activities, and learning stations

  • Reinforce lessons by working with small groups or individual students

  • Support students in completing assignments and maintaining focus

Student Engagement and Care

  • Build positive, Christ-like relationships with students

  • Monitor student behavior and support classroom management

  • Assist in maintaining a safe, orderly, and respectful learning environment

  • Supervise students during transitions, recess, lunch, and dismissal

Instructional Assistance

  • Help facilitate classroom instruction under the direction of the Lead Teacher

  • Provide additional support to students who need help understanding concepts

  • Encourage participation, creativity, and confidence in students

Administrative Support

  • Assist with classroom organization, grading support, and tracking assignments

  • Help maintain cleanliness and order of the classroom

  • Support communication between teachers and administration when needed

Spiritual Development

  • Model Christian values, character, and leadership

  • Participate in prayer, devotionals, and spiritual activities

  • Support the integration of biblical principles into daily learning

Qualifications

  • High school diploma required; associate or bachelor’s degree preferred

  • Experience working with children in an educational or childcare setting preferred

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills

  • Ability to follow direction and work collaboratively with a team

  • A personal commitment to Christian faith and values

Lead Academic Teacher

Instructional Leadership and Classroom Teacher

Position Overview

Lux Christian Academy is seeking a Lead Teacher who will serve as both a classroom teacher and the instructional leader of the school. This role is responsible for teaching their own class while also overseeing instructional quality across all classrooms.

The Lead Teacher supports and trains teachers, ensures curriculum is implemented effectively, monitors student progress, and communicates with parents regarding academic performance and classroom expectations.

Lux Christian Academy operates as a university-model school, combining structured classroom instruction with guided independent learning. The Lead Teacher plays a key role in ensuring students remain on track academically within this model.

This position works closely with the Principal and serves as the bridge between classroom instruction, teachers, and families.

Key Responsibilities

Classroom Instruction

  • Serve as the primary teacher for an assigned class

  • Deliver daily instruction and ensure strong student engagement

  • Maintain a structured and effective classroom environment

  • Ensure students are progressing through curriculum and completing assignments

Instructional Leadership

  • Monitor instruction across all classrooms

  • Ensure teachers are following lesson plans and curriculum pacing

  • Maintain consistent academic expectations school-wide

  • Support classroom management and instructional effectiveness

Teacher Training and Development

  • Train and support assistant teachers in lesson delivery and classroom management

  • Provide ongoing coaching and feedback to improve instruction

  • Assist with onboarding and training new teachers

Curriculum Implementation

  • Ensure curriculum is implemented with consistency across grade levels

  • Support teachers in understanding lesson objectives and academic goals

  • Identify and address instructional gaps

Student Academic Monitoring

  • Track student grades and performance data

  • Identify students who may be falling behind

  • Ensure students are progressing through curriculum benchmarks

Testing Coordination

  • Coordinate school testing schedules

  • Monitor assessment results and identify trends

  • Communicate academic performance to the Principal

Student Support Coordination

  • Help coordinate tutoring and intervention support

  • Support students with diverse learning needs

  • Work with leadership to ensure students receive appropriate support

Parent Communication

  • Communicate with parents regarding student progress and academic expectations

  • Support parent meetings and conferences as needed

  • Help maintain strong relationships between school and families

Classroom Coverage

  • Step in to support or cover classrooms when teachers are absent

  • Ensure continuity of instruction across the school day

Communication with Leadership

  • Provide regular academic updates to the Principal

  • Communicate classroom needs, challenges, and recommendations

Qualifications

  • Teaching experience required; experience across multiple grade levels preferred

  • Strong instructional and classroom management skills

  • Ability to train and lead other teachers

  • Strong organizational and communication skills

  • Ability to analyze student performance data

  • Alignment with the mission and values of Lux Christian Academy

Preferred Experience

  • Experience in a private school or micro-school setting

  • Familiarity with university-model education

  • Experience using structured curriculum such as Abeka

  • Experience working with diverse learners
