Lux Christian Academy Student Privileges Policy
At Lux Christian Academy, we are dedicated to fostering a positive learning environment where students are encouraged to develop both academically and personally. To ensure our students learn accountability and maturity, we have established the following policy regarding the potential loss of privileges due to poor behavior or poor academic performance:

Loss of Privileges
Students who exhibit poor behavior or achieve unsatisfactory grades may lose certain privileges as a
consequence of their actions. These privileges may include, but are not limited to:
Recess: Students may be required to spend recess time working on assignments or reflecting on their
behavior under the supervision of a teacher or staff member.

Field Trips: Students with repeated behavioral issues or poor academic performance may be excluded
from participating in field trips.
Awards and Recognitions: Eligibility for awards, recognitions, and other honors may be affected by a
student's behavior and academic performance.
Special Treats and Activities: Participation in special treats, celebrations, and extracurricular activities
may be restricted for students who do not meet behavioral or academic expectations.
Criteria for Loss of Privileges
The determination of whether a student loses privileges will be based on the following criteria:
-
Behavioral Issues: Repeated incidents of disruptive behavior, disrespect towards teachers and peers,
-
Failure to follow school rules or other conduct that negatively impacts the school environment.
-
Academic Performance: Consistently poor grades, failure to complete assignments, lack of effort in
class and failure to meet the school's academic standards.
Restoration of Privileges
Privileges may be restored once a student demonstrates improved behavior or academic performance.
The process for restoring privileges includes:
-
Behavioral Improvement: Demonstrating consistent positive behavior and adherence to school rules.
-
Academic Improvement: Showing significant effort in completing assignments, participating in class, and improving grades.

Encouraging Accountability and Maturity
By implementing this policy, Lux Christian Academy aims to teach students the importance of
accountability for their actions and to encourage personal growth and maturity. We believe that these
lessons are essential for their development as responsible individuals.

having their phone at school permanently.

The school may plan carefully arranged, supervised special trips for the children away from school. These include children taking walks. I give the school permission to transport my child on these field trips.
I(we) give the school permission to transport my child for field trips that require vehicular transportation and transportation to/from their local school.
Students will take field trips during the school year. These learning experiences are designed to enrich the curriculum of LCA. Field trips are fun and informative experiences for LCA students.

I understand all fees (Tuition, Registration, Activity) are non-refundable.

BULLYING, HARASSMENT, & GUN/ WEAPON POLICY
Lux Christian Academy believes in living out the word of God by the way we treat everyone around.
(Ephesians 4:32, Matthew 7:12) LCA prohibits and does not tolerate bullying, harassment, or
discrimination of any kind, whether in person. Bullying fosters a climate of fear and disrespect that can
seriously impair the physical and psychological health of its victims and create conditions that negatively affect learning, thereby undermining the ability of students to achieve their full potential.
Behaviors that place another student or group of students in fear of harm, or insult or demean any student or group of students, will not be tolerated.

DRUG-FREE & TOBACCO-FREE SCHOOLS
LCA is a drug- and tobacco-free schools policy that states all persons on school property will be violating policy if they use, transmit, or are under the influence of any narcotic drug, a hallucinogenic drug, amphetamine, barbiturate, marijuana, or any other controlled substance or any non-intoxicating alcoholic beverage (such as low point beer); fortified wine or other intoxicating liquor; or transmit drug paraphernalia or counterfeit drugs; or possess, use, transmit or are under the influence of any other chemicals or products, including synthetic drugs and controlled drugs for which the person does not have a prescription.

GUN/WEAPON-FREE SCHOOLS
All LCA students and parents are prohibited from using or possessing a firearm or weapon at school, at any school-sponsored event, or in or upon any school property, including school transportation or school-sponsored transportation.

Online Bullying Policy
At LCA, the safety and well-being of our students are our top priorities. While we strive to create a
supportive and respectful environment within our school, we recognize that online interactions among
students fall outside our direct supervision. To address this, we have established the following policy
regarding online bullying:
Parental Responsibility: LCA is not responsible for monitoring or managing online interactions between
students. We encourage all parents to actively supervise their children's online activities, including social media usage, to ensure they are safe and respectful.
Communication and Education: We will try our best to provide resources and guidance to students about appropriate online behavior and the importance of digital citizenship. However, parents are the primary monitors of their children's online presence and behavior.
Reporting and Support: If a parent or student becomes aware of online bullying or inappropriate behavior involving LCA students, we encourage them to report it to the school administration. However, we cannot intervene directly.
Collaboration with Parents: We believe in a collaborative approach to addressing online bullying. We ask parents to communicate with the school if they have concerns about their child's online interactions with peers, and we will work together to support the affected students.
Expulsion Policy: If online bullying persists despite the efforts of parents or guardians to stop it, and it
negatively impacts the day-to-day operations of the school, faculty, and students, the involved student will be subject to expulsion. This measure is necessary to maintain a safe and conducive learning
environment for all.

Students should be free of fever, vomiting, or diarrhea for a minimum of 24 hours before returning to school. Therefore, if the school sends a student home for one of these reasons, they should not return to school the following day. Parents should be considerate of other students and school personnel by not sending a student to school with an infectious condition, fever, or persistent runny nose, green mucus, cough, or sneezing. Parents may also be asked to pick up their students if they are found to have contracted conjunctivitis (“pink eye”) or head lice. In the case of head lice, the student will be readmitted to school ONLY after he/she has been treated with a proper lice-killing shampoo. In some cases, a doctor’s note may be required before the student is allowed to return to school. In the event any student has a communicable disease, the parents are expected to notify the school and to re-admit the student only after a doctor has given written permission for the student to return to school.

has the right to decline requests to give students medications.
The medication must be sent in a pharmacy-labeled bottle. Inhalers need to have the pharmacy label on the inhaler. Broken or missing student belongings are not the school's responsibility.

Account Delinquency
If an account falls two months behind on payments, the student will be temporarily prohibited from
attending school until the outstanding balance is settled. Prolonged non-payment may result in the loss of the student’s place in the school, and re-enrollment will require payment of a new enrollment fee.
School Tax/Scholarships: I understand that school-choice tax credits and other scholarships can be used to cover my child's tuition, in whole or in part. However, if these options are denied by the school, state, federal offices, or due to unforeseen circumstances, I, as the parent/guardian, agree to be fully responsible for paying all tuition and fees for my student(s).

Parent Promise/ Agreement
The administration of Lux Christian Academy requires at least one parent of each student to join the other Lux Christian Academy parents in pledging to uphold this agreement in order to glorify God through families, teachers, and students who embody His grace.
“I/We as parent/parents/ guardian understand, agree, and will commit to the following:
To guide our children through a biblical worldview, recognizing Lux Christian Academy as a supportive

To serve the school by volunteering my time, talents, and gifts (Mark 10:43-45).

Support student success at home and at school

disrupt service. I will contact the school to ensure that it is open during any of the said events. I agree that if the school is closed for an extended period, I will remain responsible for my tuition payments. Lux Christian Academy will send out alerts to inform the student body of closings.
